C.C.R.A Soccer!

Thank You for Registering for the Current River Recreational Soccer Program!!

Our season is scheduled to start May 2nd, provided the fields are in acceptable condition. We play every Monday and Wednesday, with the exception of Victoria Day. You should receive a call from your coach a week before the season starts to find out what team you are on and when your first game is. Schedules will be handed out at the first game. Our last day of Soccer is a fun filled day we call "Soccerama", which is scheduled for Sunday, June 24th. Each team plays the other teams in their division in a mini game, followed by the windup banquet at the Rec. Centre. Each player will receive a hotdog lunch, chips, a drink and a trophy. You will receive a schedule for Soccerama near the end of the regular games.

Our soccer program is run strictly by volunteers. All of our coaches, assistant coaches, and conveners are generously donating their time to make sure that all of the children in our program have a great experience and lots of fun playing soccer. Volunteers are always needed and no experience is necessary. We hold a coaches and conveners meeting prior to the start of the season to answer any questions and inform volunteers of their responsibilities. We also require volunteers during Soccerama and the Pancake breakfast that is held during the winter carnival in February.

Volunteer Opportunities


Coaches
Commitment - 1 hour, 2 evenings a week during Soccer and Soccerama
Duties - Organize team, ensure equal play and promote good sportsmanship

Assistant Coaches
Commitment - 1 hour, 2 evenings a week during Soccer and Soccerama
Duties - Help with coaching duties, fill in for coach if not available

Fields
Commitment - 1 to 3 hours in the evening or weekend before the Soccer season starts
Duties - Helping the Soccer Director measure and mark the fields, to prepare for the City crews to paint

Soccerama
Commitment - 1 to 4 hours during the Soccerama Windup
Duties - Preparing and serving hotdogs, juice and chips during the windup ceremonies, general clean up in between divisions

Pancake Breakfast
The Pancake Breakfast is held during the Current River Winter Carnival in February each year
Commitment - 3 to 5 hours on a Saturday morning in February
Duties - Preparing and Serving juice, pancakes and Sausages, Cleaning Table, Washing Dishes

Responsible high school students are welcome to volunteer and will receive community hours
